The short answer
Twenty to thirty minutes on a high-speed catamaran, around 45 minutes on a conventional ferry. The two islands face each other across a narrow channel, and this is the easiest crossing in the Cyclades.
That deserves saying plainly, because most ferry advice is about risk - book early, leave slack, watch the wind. This leg is the exception. It is frequent, it is short, and it is the one crossing you can reasonably improvise.
Use it to treat Naxos and Paros as one base with two islands.

One trap on this leg, and it is the only one.
The published range runs from about 20 minutes to 3h35, which looks alarming until you understand why. The short end is a direct hop. The long end is a boat that leaves Naxos, calls at other islands, and reaches Paros much later.
So the number that matters is on your ticket, not on the route summary. A three-hour crossing between two islands you can see from each other is not a slow boat, it is a different journey.
Two islands, one trip
Because the crossing is trivial, these two work as a pair better than almost any other combination in Greece - and they are genuinely different islands rather than two versions of the same one.
Naxos is the largest of the Cyclades and the most self-sufficient. It has a mountain interior, real farming villages, marble quarries with unfinished kouroi still lying where they cracked, and a west coast of long shallow beaches. It is the better island for a longer stay and for children.
Paros is smaller, prettier in the postcard sense, and the centre of the ferry network. Naoussa is the harbour town people fall for, and you can reach almost anywhere in the Cyclades directly from Parikia.

Both arrivals are easy
This is the other reason the leg is painless. On Paros you dock at Parikia, the main town, and step off into a street. On Naxos you dock at Naxos town, right under the Portara at the harbour mouth, and do the same.
Neither island makes you take a bus from a distant port to reach civilisation, which is not true of Santorini and is only partly true of Mykonos.
Buses meet the boats on both sides for the beaches and the villages.

This pair sits in the middle of the Cyclades, so it slots into any route. North to Mykonos, south to Santorini, west back to Athens.
