Facts are sourced, or they are not published
Every fact that can change - a fare, a duration, an opening time, a closure - is checked against a primary source: the ferry operator, the port authority, the ministry, the official ticket office. Secondary sources are used to corroborate, never as the sole basis for a claim.
When we cannot source something, we do not reach for a vaguer number. We explain the mechanism instead. “The gate belongs to the vessel, not the island” is more useful, and more durable, than a gate number that will be wrong next season. A true qualitative sentence beats a number that is nearly right.
Prices are ranges, never exact figures
Prices are the fastest-rotting facts on a travel site. We publish ranges, we attribute them, and we mark them as checked on a date. A site that prints an exact fare is telling you something that was true once.
Recommendations rest on more than one voice
Where we recommend a place, the recommendation rests on corroborated evidence: what travellers consistently report, plus an authoritative primary source. A single enthusiastic blog post is not evidence. Where the evidence is thin, we say the evidence is thin.
We do not certify safety
We will tell you that a beach is exposed to the meltemi, that a descent is steep, or that a road is narrow. We will not tell you that anything is safe, because we are not a safety authority and a reader can be hurt by a reassurance we were not qualified to give. Where an official body has restricted access to somewhere, we point you at that body.
Nothing here is paid for
No affiliate links. No sponsored posts. No paid placements. No commercial relationship with any business we mention. When a booking layer eventually exists on this site, it will be clearly marked as ours, and it will not change what the guides say.
When we are wrong
We correct the page and we do not pretend it always said the right thing. If a correction changes the advice rather than a detail, we say what changed. Tell us at [email protected] and we will check it against a primary source.
On the use of AI
We use AI tooling in research and drafting. It does not lower the standard on this page: every fact is still checked against a primary source by the same rules above, and a claim that cannot be sourced does not get published. Diagrams and illustrations we draw ourselves are labelled as illustrations, and all of them are collected in one place, free for anyone to reuse with credit under CC BY 4.0; photographs are real photographs of the places they show.
