The village is a curve of waterfront around a sheltered bay, with fishing boats on one side, a short sandy beach on the other, and tavernas along the middle.
What is there
- The harbour, still a working one, with a mole you can walk out on and boats tied along it.
- A small sandy beach right in the village, shallow and calm, which makes the place workable with young children in a way the big exposed beaches are not.
- A row of tavernas on the water, which is the main reason people drive down in the evening.
- A handful of rooms and small hotels, enough to make it a base but not enough to make it a resort.
Why it is useful
It sits in the middle of the east coast, which is where the wind-facing beaches are:
- Golden Beach and its neighbour New Golden Beach are a few minutes south, and are the island’s windsurfing coast.
- Santa Maria is north.
- Lefkes, the old mountain capital, is inland and uphill on the old marble road.
So Piso Livadi is where you eat after a day of any of those, and where you sleep if you would rather be near them than near a town.
The wind, which decides the day
The east coast catches the summer meltemi, and that is the whole reason Golden Beach has a windsurfing scene. The same wind can make a beach day unpleasant if you wanted flat water.
Piso Livadi’s own bay is more sheltered than the open beaches either side, which is the practical argument for it. When the north is blowing hard, Aliki on the south coast is the fallback the island uses.

Common questions
What is Piso Livadi?
A small fishing harbour and village on the east coast of Paros, with a sheltered sandy bay, a working mole and a run of waterfront tavernas.
Is Piso Livadi good for families?
The village beach is small, sandy and shallow, and everything is within a short walk, which suits young children better than the big exposed beaches nearby.
What beaches are near Piso Livadi?
Golden Beach and New Golden Beach are a few minutes south and are the windsurfing coast; Santa Maria is to the north.
Is Piso Livadi windy?
Its own bay is more sheltered than the open east-coast beaches, which take the summer meltemi directly. That wind is why Golden Beach is a windsurfing destination.
Is Piso Livadi a good base on Paros?
It works as a quiet one, close to the east-coast beaches and with places to eat, but it is small and a car makes it far more useful.
