The beaches
Small, sandy and shallow, in a series of coves rather than one long strip. The bay faces south, away from the summer meltemi, which makes this the sheltered side of the island on a windy day, exactly when Golden Beach on the east is at its choppiest.
Facilities are modest: some loungers, tavernas behind the sand, and a good deal of unorganised space. It is a family-scale beach rather than a resort one.
The village
Small enough to walk in ten minutes, with a waterfront that fills at lunch and again in the evening. The fish tavernas are the reason people drive down from Parikia, and our where to eat in Paros page covers the island’s tables more widely.
There is a small folklore museum, and the airport is a couple of minutes away, which is worth knowing in both directions: convenient on arrival, and occasionally audible.
Where it fits
Aliki is roughly twenty minutes from Parikia and half an hour from Naoussa, at the southern end of the island. It works as:
- A lunch trip from either town.
- A quiet base for travellers who want a village and a beach without a resort strip.
- A sheltered fallback on days when the north and east coasts are being blown about.
