The town
A small working harbour with a marina, a waterfront of tavernas and bars, and hotels on the slopes behind. It is a sailing base above all, and in summer the quay fills with charter yachts.
It is compact, low-key and geared to being outdoors.
The bays, which need a boat
The best of the coast is not reachable by road, and hiring a small boat, which needs no licence for the smaller engines, is the normal way to spend a day here:
- Bella Vraka, a sandbar that connects to the islet of Mourtemeno at low water, with shallow turquoise on both sides.
- Pisina, a deep clear cove named for looking like a swimming pool.
- Agia Paraskevi, Mega Ammos and Zeri on the coast itself, some reachable by road.
Boat rental places line the harbour, and the run out to the islets takes minutes.
What else is within reach
- Parga, half an hour south, with its castle.
- Paxos and Antipaxos, a day by boat.
- Corfu, by ferry from Igoumenitsa, forty minutes north.
- The Acheron river and the Nekromanteion, inland.
Getting there and how long
Preveza airport is about an hour and a quarter; Corfu airport is a ferry plus a drive. Igoumenitsa is the nearest port.
Four nights, since the point is boat days and there are several.

Where is Sivota?
On the Epirus coast of mainland Greece, between Parga and Igoumenitsa, opposite Corfu and Paxos.
Why does Sivota look like an island?
Because of the wooded islets scattered just offshore and the turquoise channels between them, which resemble the Ionian islands rather than the mainland.

Do you need a boat at Sivota?
For the best of the coast, yes. Small boats are hired from the harbour and the islets are minutes away.
